At the end of this adventure at the Coronado Butterfly Preserve in Goleta, I looked down at my outfit and thought, “Gee, I guess I look a bit more ‘ladies who lunch’ than I had planned.” And that summarizes the day for me pretty well; Attire that was entirely practical until I jumped in the car to go to a eucalyptus forest of sorts on the bluffs.
First, I actually did go out for lunch with my boyfriend and an old friend earlier in the day. Heels and a scarf for breezy beach weather in a thin dress – sure! Five-inch heels on a hiking trail, not so much. The thick, wooden heels and platforms were easy to master on the uphill climb, but my downhill pace was about half an inch per step. To be honest, though, I didn’t mind the families and joggers staring at me in confusion. Maybe I’m a model; they don’t know me.
This scarf (which I found at a favorite consignment store but am pretty sure that it was originally from H&M or Forever21) actually played beautifully in the sunlight. I had hoped that it would attract some monarch butterflies to pose for the camera with me, but, alas, they were content to flutter in the treetops far above my head. It was a majestic sight watching them seemingly float between the trees and sunlight.
I love this little black dress. The detailing is subtle but important to me because it adds just enough to this otherwise ordinary LBD – piped trimming on the uniquely shaped collar and the fleur-de-lis buttons that I added to the sleeves make the dress mine. Paired with a vintage cream and brass woven leather belt to dress it down, I’d say that the outfit is great for lunching – but I am going to start leaving a pair of sandals and running shoes in my car for future unexpected hiking trips.
I am continually touched and amazed by the wonderful community of artists and friends on etsy, I have received so much love and support from these beautiful souls, and it has empowered me and inspired me to keep creating and stay positive!
Viva La vie Boheme!
Glitz and glam meets Bohemian Beach Babe, meets sophisticated socialite. These little treats are perfect for that Saturday Beach BBQ, Dress up or Dress down, nothing says BOMBSHELL like a statement Headpiece!
Viva La Vie Boheme!
The idea behind Bohemian Bombshell is simple. To live life according to yourself, and yet to accept and interact willingly with the lifestyles of those who have chosen to live according to themselves. To believe that difference is what defines us, that diversity is not an obstacle, but a gift. That we can learn from each other, and accept each other and ourselves, for who and what we really are and not what we’re expected or told to be. To remember that a collective is no more than individuals. To connect with each other on a personal level and share our fears, our hopes, and our dreams. TO BE AN US INSTEAD OF A THEM. To erase “norm” and to create “real”. I want to lift boundaries, ignite passion, encourage discussion, speak the unspoken, and to truly understand the perspective of another. To acknowledge one another, and respond with compassion and understanding. To live in a Co-Operative environment and HELP each other GOD DAMNIT!. To understand that you’re not alone, and that you won’t have to face it alone. Be proud of what you are, and be firm in your beliefs. To make a difference and give back to those who have given to you, and yet to give without expecting a return. Fear is toxic, the only thing to fear is fear itself. To end cruelty, and embrace opportunity. The Past and Future are simply illusions, for you cannot live something that has never existed, nor thrive in something never will exist again. The time is now, for it is the only time that is real. DO IT NOW. We need to harness the power of our minds into positive creation, and not into tearing each other down.
Every Work of Art created by Bohemian Bombshell was created in it’s own moment, not copied from a blueprint. It grew out of friendship, community, expression, enthusiasm, discovery, and generosity. It is the beacon for a utopian lifestyle, one in which the pursuit of happiness is only the first step, that ones life should ultimately be focused on living that happiness…not chasing it. Be focused and see the individual, not the stereotype. Why do we fear what we don’t understand? Because we don’t understand why we fear it. Because we trap our true emotions inside for fear of rejection . Why do we fear rejection? BECAUSE WE NEED EACH OTHER. Build your own mountains, don’t stomp on top of others. Be different. BE YOU.♥
